Back to the Heart of Worship

A Look Back...

In 1989, the original chapel burned to the ground... leaving the camp without a place to worship.

The Texas Baptist Men Camp Builders responded to this need and in just a few weeks had enclosed the walls to the Concession Pavilion to provide a place for campers to worship. This was to be an interim building, but ended up being used for 10 years.

In 1999, the Activities Center was built in order to serve growing summer camps, but again, was intended to serve as a dual purpose activity and interim worship center.

Getting back to the Heart of Worship... means making a major investment in the current Activities Center where worship for summer camps is currently held. This will be transformed into a 900-seat worship center. We need your help in order to do this.

The plan calls for... a 900-seat auditorium with state-of-the-art sound, projection system and lighting. There will also be upgrades in flooring, wall treatments and storage with a pleasing new look designed to enhance the worship experience. The lobby area will be enlarged and restrooms will be added. The air conditioning system will be upgraded and additional insulation will be installed.
