Biggest Loser - Riverbend Edition

Need help losing those extra pounds?

Join the Riverbend Retreat Center Biggest Loser Group and help Riverbend at the same time!

Here's how it works...

The Purpose: Encourage participants to engage in a healthier lifestyle including diet, exercise and increased activity and to raise funds for Riverbend Retreat Center.
The Program: Riverbend Staff is leading the way with a competition among staff. An overall wellness program is being implemented, which will include an emphasis on exercise and weight loss. Others are encouraged to join in, report progress and receive encouragement via a group page on Facebook. The program will last four months, from January 7th to May8th.
The Process:

The intital weigh-in and the final weigh-in must be verified by at least two other people. (Hopefully, these people will become part of your support group during the process.)

The finale will be held at Riverbend on May 8th and will include a final weigh-in and a 5K fun run for all participants.

Anyone is welcome to participate at no cost, but all participants will be encouraged to solicit sponsors to donate a certain amount ($.50 to $1.00) per pound of weight lost to be given toward the Worship Center renovation project at Riverbend. (You will receive a "sample sponsorship request" message when you join the group.

The Prizes:

Prizes to be given:

  1. The person losing the most weight will receive a free one-night retreat at Riverbend for themselves and their support group of up to 10 people including lodging and meals.
  2. The person raising the most funds will receive a free two-night retreat at Riverbend for themselves and their support group of up to 10 people including lodging, meals, tickets to “The Promise.”

Aside from the initial and final weigh-in, you are not required to report your weight loss.  If you choose to, you can post your beginning weight on the Riverbend Facebook Group (sign into your Facebook account and search for "Biggest Loser Riverbend Edition") with updates on a weekly basis every Thursday on the group page.

The Fun Run will be open to anyone, not just those involved in the program.

5.  How do I raise money for Riverbend while losing weight?

The Fundraising aspect of this is accomplished through each participant contacting friends, family, etc. to sponsor them. Look at the "Info" page on the Biggest Loser Riverbend Edition group page for a sample letter to message your friends on FB. You can also cut and paste the Sponsor Request Letter into an email to send out to other non-FB friends. By the way, to let me know you are actually reading this, I will personally sponsor the first 10 people that send me the letter at $1.00 per pound.
